In many ways 2016 was an extraordinary year for RMIT Vietnam.

We celebrated our 15th year in Vietnam, but we did not rest on our laurels. We launched new programs and projects, and our staff, students, and alumni continued to achieve great things in life and work.

Double happiness for alumni - with RMIT as matchmaker!

Two RMIT Vietnam alumni had the perfect month – in December 2015 they graduated AND married!

Dang Tran Tung (Bachelor of Business - Economics and Finance) and Luong Bao Hoa (Bachelor of Professional Communication) have claimed RMIT Vietnam as their ‘matchmaker’, having graduated and married in December  2015.

In semester 2, 14 RMIT Vietnam students got a head start in the marketing and advertising industry through the Ogilvy Fellowship Program.

RMIT Vietnam will fully fund two new annual scholarships enabling Vietnamese women to gain doctorates, university President Professor Gael McDonald said.

Making the announcement at a special staff celebration on International Women’s Day, she said the Women’s Enhancement Scholarships would enable the scholarship holders to gain a PhD degree.

At just 24 years old Bachelor of Commerce graduate Bang Nguyen (Daniel) is already on track to lead a major business division for multinational company Jardine Matheson.

Mr Nguyen was selected to join the Southeast Asia Talent Scheme (link is external) (SEATS program) and will now go through rigorous management training for two years followed by another eight years of leadership development.

When a blackout hit RMIT Vietnam’s Saigon South campus earlier this year, a light bulb went on inside the head of Hayrettin Arisoy, Technical Manager in the Centre of Technology.

For the price of the diesel generators that powered the lights back on, Mr Arisoy figured that he could purchase solar panels and boost the burgeoning renewable energy initiatives at RMIT Vietnam.
