When classroom lessons become lifelong guidance

When classroom lessons become lifelong guidance

What students remember most about Linda isn't just her teaching - it's the thoughtful feedback, the quiet encouragement and the confidence that stays with them.

"Thank you for being an excellent instructor. You have made complex theoretical knowledge comprehensible and easy to digest…"

That line came from a student's thank-you email to Linda Nguyen, Associate Lecturer, Professional Communication (School of Communication & Design). But ask around, and you'll hear similar words from many others who've studied with her.

After more than 13 years at RMIT Vietnam, Linda has quietly built a legacy that stretches far beyond the classroom. Her impact can/t be measured in grades or attendance records, but in the way, students carry themselves years after they graduate.

She's the kind of teacher who notices the small things, a sharp insight buried deep in paragraph four or a missing citation (yes, she checks every reference!). She doesn't just mark your work; she engages with it. She returns it layered with thoughtful feedback and somehow makes you believe you/re capable of more.

Those who've sat in her class will always remember the discipline: arriving early, never underprepared, speaking with intention. But what lingers even more is her quiet care, the kind that goes beyond what's required of any lecturer. The way she invests in each student makes you want to show up differently. To do better.

Linda teaches advertising. But what her students carry with them are the deeper lessons: how to think critically, communicate with integrity and keep showing up, especially when it gets hard.

Years later, alumni still mention her name. Always with a sense that something she said, or simply embodied, is still shaping the way they think, work, or lead.

That's her legacy.

And it continues to grow, quietly, meaningfully, with every student she meets.
