To Associate Professor Burkhard Schrage
Lecturer of Strategy course, MBA program
Interim Head of Department, Management
I still remember walking into Burkhard Schrage's Strategy class expecting frameworks, templates and models. But from the very first session, he challenged everything I thought I knew. Strategy, he said, isn't just planning. It's about dynamic thinking, questioning assumptions and leading with purpose.
What stood out most was how he encouraged us to apply everything to the Vietnamese context. We weren't just analyzing multinational giants. Burkhard constantly pushed us to ask, "How does this apply to Vietnam?".
He also reminded us that strong strategic thinking isn't just for executives. In fast-changing economies like Vietnam, mid-level managers and team leads are the ones making real-time decisions that shape outcomes. His course prepared us to lead in those moments - with clarity, structure and purpose.
Thanks to Burkhard, I learned that leadership isn't about title or scale. It's about relevance, courage and impact. That mindset has stayed with me in every decision I make, every team I lead and every business challenge I face.
Burkhard didn't just teach me strategy. He taught me how to lead with intention. He helped me see that leadership, at any level, can create meaningful, long-term value - for the teams we build and the communities we're part of.
That, to me, is the legacy of RMIT.
