Over $500,000 in grants from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Cyber and Critical Tech Cooperation Program, training over 140,000 employees across sectors such as government, banking, and heavy industries, demonstrating its extensive reach and tangible contributions.
Associate Professor Hiep Pham is the Deputy Dean of Research & Innovation at the Business School, RMIT Vietnam. Previously, he served as Head of the Department of Business Innovation and led the Cybersecurity Research and Innovation Hub at RMIT Vietnam. His research focuses on cybersecurity management, supply chain management and business technologies. A/Prof Pham has secured several large DFAT grants to support Critical Infrastructure Uplift projects in Vietnam. Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Information & Computer Security.
Duy Dang holds a PhD degree in Business Information Systems and serves as Associate Head of Department (Research and Innovation) in The Business School, RMIT Vietnam. His expertise spans Management Information Systems (MIS), with a focus on information security behaviors and management, digital transformation and emerging digital technologies. Prior to his current role, he served as HDR Coordinator and Delegated Authority, managing six PhD programs across business disciplines and as Senior Program Manager for the Bachelor of IT and Bachelor of Software Engineering programs. In 2024, he was honored as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar-in-Residence at Gonzaga University, USA and he is also a Co-founder of the Vietnam Chapter of the Association for Information Systems (VAIS).
This program aims to enhance Australia’s international Cyber Engagement and utilise Australian expertise in Cyber & Critical Technology to uplift the capability of our nation’s closest neighbours. This is part of Australia’s commitment to deliver on the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The program is designed to raise awareness of cyber security and cyber safety issues for Vietnamese SMEs, and it aims to tackle the organisational, technological and cultural context of the Vietnam business sector.

This initiative aims deepen RMIT’s relationships in the Vietnam Cyber Security Sector by working with the key industry association (VNISA) to accelerate the growth of startups in the cyber security sector by providing market access and fostering collaboration with industry and researchers. It positions RMIT Vietnam as a pivotal hub for cyber security innovation in Southeast Asia.

In collaboration with the RMIT Centre of Cyber Security, Research & Innovation, TBS is subcontracted to conduct in-depth qualitative research on systemic barriers to cybersecurity resilience and produce a final report with recommendations for advancing regional cybersecurity capacity, fostering diversity and inclusion, and enhancing public awareness of cybersecurity issues.

This PhD Industry Placement project, conducted in collaboration with PhD candidate Thuc-Hien Nguyen and the NGO Dear Our Community (DOC), aimed to support the development of inclusive, resilient, and secure smart cities in Vietnam by fostering collaboration between international partners and local stakeholders across government, industry, and innovation ecosystems. The project delivered a comprehensive report covering policy context, key domains, stakeholders, challenges, and investment opportunities, which was submitted to Austrade, while also providing actionable insights through co-developed analysis and capacity-building perspectives to support Vietnam’s sustainable and secure urban development trajectory.

This report, developed in collaboration with New Energy Nexus Vietnam and performed by CBET members at RMIT University Vietnam, provides a comprehensive analysis of Vietnam’s emerging climate tech funding ecosystem, mapping key stakeholders, funding flows, and institutional dynamics shaping the sector. Drawing on extensive desk research and 44 in-depth interviews with enterprises, financial providers, and intermediaries, the report examines the investment landscape, ecosystem structures, and support mechanisms, while highlighting critical themes such as impact investing trends, financing gaps, gender inclusion in climate entrepreneurship, and sector-specific opportunities across energy, mobility, agriculture, and the circular economy.
