Employability skills program gets digitalised

RMIT Vietnam’s new Personal Edge app digitalises the employability skills learning experience, preparing students for life and work.

As students develop their employability skills in the Personal Edge program, they can now manage their progression on their mobile device with the new Personal Edge web app.

“The new Personal Edge app speaks to the University’s efforts to continuously enhance student experience and implement digitalisation in learning and teaching,” said Manuela Spiga, Senior Manager of Careers and Industry Relations.

“With this new platform, students can build up an inventory of skills which can be used to impress employers upon graduation.”

The app allows students who enrol in the Personal Edge program to create a digital portfolio where they can showcase six skill sets: creative thinker, confident communicator, cross-cultural team player, ethical leader, digital citizen, and career strategist.

Students can demonstrate how they develop or perform the skills in a learning or working experience via the framework STARTLP – situation, task, action, result, learn/plan.

With this digital portfolio, they can also attach evidence of their learning experiences like certificate scans, photos of real works, recommendations from teammates and supervisors, and others.

Besides having an online record of their experience, students can take advantage of other useful functions directly on the app. They can book workshops and events offered by the Careers and Industry Relations office, compete with each other on the Monthly Leaderboard, and redeem points for gifts.

The app is available from Semester 3, 2017 for students who enrol in the Personal Edge program.
