Legacy from staff: Planting seeds, watching students bloom

For more than a decade at RMIT, Linh Nguyen has been more than staff. She has been a "gardener" of growth, supporting students as they find their voice and flourish.

For over ten years, Linh Nguyen has been more than a staff member at RMIT Vietnam. She's been a mentor, a guide and a constant presence in students' journeys.

"My work focuses on student engagement and supporting their growth throughout their time at university," she shares. "Every day, they inspire me with their curiosity, their evolving identities, their courage, and yes, even their unpredictable energy."

She's seen shy first-years slowly grow into confident leaders: organising events, mentoring others and making real impact in their communities. Sometimes, i's just one workshop or conversation that shifts something in them: a new mindset, a sense of direction, or belief in themselves.

"It's honestly like watching a garden bloom," she says. "And I feel incredibly lucky to be one of the gardeners." For Linh, this "legacy" is about planting seeds and watching them grow - sometimes in ways that surprise you. "I hope I get to keep doing this. Because if there's one thing I've learned, its that working with students is a privilege. And I'm so grateful to be part of their story."
