Before joining RMIT, Diem held positions as a lecturer in econometrics and economics at the University of Waikato in New Zealand, spent over three years as an associate lecturer at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand, and over ten years as an economic lecturer at Tay Nguyen University, Vietnam.
