Overview

As the world’s economic weight continues to shift to Asia, demand is increasing for professionals in economics and finance across the public and private sectors.

This program prepares you to move into professional roles in an economy that is emerging as a major force in the global marketplace due to growth in new industries, businesses and investment. 

You will learn how to perform high-level financial and economic analyses while developing cutting-edge knowledge and skills in trending areas.

Starting in 2020, new courses in the areas of blockchain economy and cryptofinance and cryptocurrency will help to prepare you for a future in a field shaped by disruptive technologies.

Developing a range of soft skills will ensure that you can communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in the workforce.

Learning, teaching & assessment

  • Teaching methods include face-to-face delivery, tutorials, classes, workshops and industry seminars.
  • Students' achievements in the program are measured by various methods including assignments, research, case study analysis, group presentations and examinations.

Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) graduates are able to provide value-adding advice from two disciplines that will enable individuals, public and private organizations to make commercially informed decisions. You will be able to integrate theoretical and technical proficiency in a range of economic and finance applications and contexts that enable you to respond to specific situations and the needs of clients with differing understandings and from a diversity of cultural backgrounds.

On successful completion of this program you will be able to:

  1. Apply broad theoretical and technical knowledge of business practice in diverse contexts.
  2. Integrate economic and finance theory, technical knowledge and quantitative, econometric and statistical methods to provide in-depth professional advice to businesses, other organisations and governments
  3. Critically analyse and synthesise information to formulate effective business decisions.
  4. Apply reasoned judgements to solve problems in a variety of business contexts with reference to ethical, regulatory and global perspectives.
  5. Reflect on performance feedback to identify action strategies for improvement.
  6. Communicate business data and concepts to professionals and non-professionals in diverse contexts.
  7. Apply an adaptive and collaborative approach to working with others in a variety of business and professional contexts.
  8. Integrate and apply professional theory with practice in authentic Work Integrated Learning (WIL) contexts.

Further studies

When you successfully complete this program, you may be eligible for entry into an RMIT honours or postgraduate program in Vietnam and Australia.

 

Fees

Students can choose standard fee or fixed fee program. Payments can be made each semester, on a course-by-course basis.

(*) Fixed Fees are offered to brand new students who would like to fix their course tuition fees for a specified period of a Higher Education degree program. The fixed fee program guards against potential fee increases and currency fluctuations. 

Notes:

  1. The duration of programs is flexible and can be adapted on an individual basis upon enrolment.
  2. Program fees are priced and invoiced in Vietnam Dong (VND).
  3. Payment in other currencies will be converted to VND at the exchange rate on that day. Bank transfer is the preferred method of payment.
  4. The fees in USD are ONLY applicable to those international students who arrange for payment from overseas, as per Circular No. 32/2013/TT-NHNN.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements

  • High school graduation diploma with a minimum GPA of 7.0/10.0 for Grade 12, for other international qualifications please view entry requirements by country​; or
  • Successfully complete the UniSTART for Business with a minimum GPA of 1.0/4.0 with no double fail of a course
  • If you have completed or partially completed a similar program at another institution you may be accepted with some academic credit, or exemptions, being granted toward this program.

English requirements

Successfully complete RMIT English Advanced or complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.5+ (no band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT 79+ (with minimum score of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 58+ (no communication band below 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) 176+ (no band below 169)

Note:

TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson and Cambridge results are recognised for two years from the test date. RMIT English results are recognised for one year from the test date.

RMIT has pathway arrangements with many partner institutions around the world.

If your institution has a pathway arrangement with RMIT you may be able to receive credit and reduce the time it will take to complete your preferred RMIT program.

Find out if your institution has a pathway arrangement with RMIT. If you have qualifications from an institution that is not an RMIT partner, credit into your RMIT program will be assessed on a case by case basis.
