Designed for learners from 12 to 17 years old, RMIT's Summer Explorers program promises teen students an extraordinary one-of-a-kind summer, with every passing minute full of learning experiences and memorable moments.

Studying, having fun and making new friends in an international university environment, a summer at RMIT will help teens become more independent and practice thinking like a university student. They will be inspired and instructed to:

  • Improve English proficiency through project-based learning
  • Future career planning
  • Skills ready for study and work
  • Sports and wellbeing activities
  • Making friends and embracing diversity
  • Excursion and having summer's fun

Course structure

Schedule: from Monday to Friday, 8:30 - 15:30

Throughout of the Teen Summer Explorers program, the students will be working on a project-based learning approach that helps to improve their English level and actively apply English a real-world tasks. Also, leadership and teamworking skills will be improved. 

Also they will be learning essential skills that can prepare them for studying in an international environment:

  • Communication and Problem-solving Skills.
  • First Aid Awareness.
  • Cross-cultural Experience: Diversity and Respect.
  • Understanding Colloquial English in Australia, UK and North America.
  • Sports and wellbeing activities help to connect with each other and to build team spirit. 

Moreover, throughout a research-based personality test and participate in activities to analyse their inner strengths, a 1-on-1 consultation with professional career advisors is provided to parents to assist their children with career planning. 

Learning, teaching and assessment

Pathway to international university

The teen students will be taught by highly-qualified RMIT teachers using interactive University preparation techniques, which provides an advantage for learners even while they're still in high school. The teen programs at RMIT offer students a glimpse of the university experience, hence increasing their preparedness for higher education.

Communication with parents

  • Orientation Day at the beginning of the course
  • Closing Ceremony at the end of the course
  • Mid-course and end-of-course feedback regarding student's performance
