RMIT x California State University Monterey Bay

The Pathways program between RMIT and CSUMB provides you with a practical foundation for university life aboard.

RMIT’s programs equip you with the language and academic skills required to progress to an undergraduate degree in an English-speaking country, such as the US.

California State University (CSU) institutions are ranked among the best universities for quality, affordability and graduate earnings. Located in one of the most climate-favorable regions of the US, California is a cultural, technological and economic hub. Studying at CSU offers you abundant opportunities to enjoy not only a learning experience but also a living experience.  

Before transferring to CSU Monterey Bay, you will take courses from a Bachelor of Business during three semesters at RMIT Vietnam.

In the US, you will complete a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration during three years, with study concentration available in areas including accounting, agribusiness, entrepreneurship, information systems, management and international business, and marketing.

About CSU Monterey Bay

The Monterey Bay residential campus is located one mile from the shores of the beautiful Monterey Bay and about two hours from San Francisco. CSU Monterey Bay has more than 7,500 students, with international students from almost 50 countries. It is ranked 11th among the top public universities in the west of the United States by US News & World Report (2016).

The strategic focus of the CSU Monterey Bay’s College of Business aligns with that of RMIT. Academic requirements

English requirements

Successfully complete RMIT English Advanced or complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.5+ (no band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT 79+ (with minimum score of 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) 58+ (no communication band below 50)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) 176+ (no band below 169)

Note: TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson and Cambridge results are recognised for two years from the test date. RMIT English results are recognised for one year from the test date.


  • Year 10 – 12 cumulative GPA = 7.0 or above (US GPA ~ 2.45/4.0)
  • RMIT Vietnam cumulative GPA = 2.0/4.0 or above

Course exemption requirements

  • GPA 2.0/4.0 for each transferable course

English requirements

  • No English certificate required for RMIT Vietnam undergraduate students.
