As Head of School of Communication & Design, Professor Rick Bennett is responsible for the academic leadership of communication, design, and fashion programs at RMIT Vietnam.
For more than over 20 years, he has been Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales' College of Fine Arts, during which time he was a visiting Professor at De La Salle University in the Philippines.
Prof. Bennett studied Fine Art in England and began his career in the UK television and film industry before migrating to Australia. His research has explored advances in digital technology and the interdependence between design professions and design education.
At UNSW Prof. Bennett led the curriculum design and teaching of more than 40 fully online courses in art and design, ultimately leading production of their first fully-online Masters (coursework) program.
He was Chief Investigator of an ARC Discovery Grant in Design Studies (visual communication) and in 2004 was awarded the Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools (Acuads) Distinguished Teacher of the Year.
Prof. Bennett has frequently presented at academic conferences worldwide on online design education, and has exhibited his practical creative work in both Australia and the Philippines.
