Rationale

What is the Rationale?    

In this section we will examine the rationale for online teaching and learning. We look specifically at some of the ideas and theories that underpin the thinking about, and practice of, online teaching and learning. We also explore the possibilities around the future, not only in respect to emerging digital technologies, but also what we are continually discovering about learning. Policies and guidelines related to online teaching at RMIT (and in some cases beyond) are included to illustrate how theories and ideas about teaching online translate into practice. Finally, we look at evidence of efficacy, knowing that there is a need to continually improve teaching and learning through a process of critique and evaluation. We welcome your ideas, thoughts and reflections about the material that is provided and welcome in the forum any suggestions of additional resources that can be included to stimulate further critical reflection, discussion and better practice.
