Diverse Gender, Sex and Sexualities (DGSS) 101 workshop

Diverse Gender, Sex and Sexualities (DGSS) 101 workshop

Our understanding of gender, sex, and sexuality is conventionally shaped in binary in which the assumption that someone in our society should be either male or female, or man or woman. In addition, interpersonal attraction including what we call “love” only exists between couples of opposite genders and sexes. This viewpoint, indeed, has been challenged by our progressive society where people become more confident to express themselves.

But what do we need to know more to acknowledge a more diverse society where the presence of people of diverse genders, sexes, and sexualities are recognised and valued just like the rest of us?

In the celebration of RMIT Pride Week 2022, we can grasp a better approach to gender, sex and sexual diversity with the DGSS 101 workshop happening at RMIT Hanoi campus. The workshop will get our students and staff familiarised with diverse terminologies, concepts, and in-depth understanding of the rainbow community (LGBTIQ+) in a general context.

It will also provide the audience with a basic understanding of allyship, some do and don’t tips for each of us to contribute to building respectful, inclusive and safer places for all.
