Intelligent Investment Competition 2021

Intelligent Investment Competition is the second largest national project hosted by RMIT Vietnam Finance Club (SGS). In the first season, our competition has successfully attracted 300 participants within the scale of Ho Chi Minh City. In season 2, we aim to expand our competition nationwide, welcome all the participation of university students across the country, with a total prize value of 400,000,000 VND. With the remarkable expansion, the competition also desires to continue to improve contestants’ skills, practice thinking as well as analyzing, and develop a success-oriented mindset to solve problems in the field of stock trading.

Being honourably sponsored by FUTA Group, SAPP Academy, CPA Australia, Konica Minolta, RMIT Vietnam Student Council, ACB and Aladin Finance, the competition always ensures the transparency, real-time data of the trading market for the participants. The contest is also proudly supported by our media sponsors, including Advertising Vietnam, Internship.vn, YBOX, Profin, Mentori and other organizations and clubs.

Students can attend the competition in a team of three members.

Opening Ceremony - 16 October 2021

• Location: Livestream on “Intelligent Investment Competition” Facebook Fanpage
• Participants: This Opening Ceremony is public on IIC Fanpage, therefore, anyone who is interested in IIC can join in the event.
• Event purpose: The purpose of the IIC Opening Ceremony is to give the participants a broader understanding of Intelligent Investment Competition, by giving the detailed description for specific events throughout the competition timeline, together with the opportunities, knowledge, and prizes that contestants would gain from participating. Additionally, we would go through the general rules of this year competition, the instruction for the virtual stock trading platform and the introduction of IIC sponsors this year.

Workshop 1: Stock Trading Training Session - 24 October 2021

• Location: To be informed
• Participants: IIC contestants
• Event purpose: This is an opportunity for participants to learn about the technical analysis in stock trading and be well-prepared for the next round. Also, it will advance participants’ knowledge regarding real-life situations in the stock field.

Preliminary Round: Stock Trading Team - 25 October 2021 

• Location: Virtual Stock Trading Platform
• Participants: IIC contestants
• Event purpose: Participants will form teams of three and start trading with the 100 million VND budget. Each team will create one account on an online trading platform. The duration is 6 weeks long until Friday, 3 December 2021 and 10 teams with the highest profits will enter the semi-final round. The result of this round would be announced on Sunday, 5 December 2021.

Workshop 2: Report Writing Training Sessions 

• Time: To be informed, during the time of the preliminary round
• Event purpose: In order to prepare IIC contestants for the semi-final, the organizers will offer training sessions hosted by our trainer to provide the candidates with the necessary knowledge to accomplish the second round of the competition. This training is aimed to enhance participants’ ability to construct reports, and equip participants with fundamental analysis knowledge for growth investing style.
• Additional information: After every training session, there would be a Q&A session to assist participants in constructing the report and give advice on the mentioned topics.

Meeting with mentors

• Mentor List Announcement: Monday, 6 December 2021
• Participants: Top 10 teams and mentors
• Event purpose: From the mentioned date, teams can start scheduling meetings with their mentors on either an online or offline platform. Teams will meet the mentors who are assigned by the IIC organizers. The mentors would exchange contacts with the teams they are responsible for. Nevertheless, teams must comply with the rules on the relationship between candidates and mentors.

Semi-Final Round: Report Writing

• Semi-Final Round: Sunday, 5 December 2021
• Report Submission Deadline: Saturday, 18 December 2021
• Presentation Slides Submission Deadline: Sunday, 26 December 2021
• Result Announcement: Monday, 3 January 2022
• Location: There will be no event, the top 10 teams will submit their reports and presentation slides by the deadline and receive the results through email.
• Participants: Top 10 teams
• Additional information: Participants will write an investment strategy report to recommend a long-term investment choosing only the mid-cap stocks from the Vietnamese stock market. Contestants' reports will be graded by IIC judges, and there will be only 5 teams that can enter the final round of the competition.

Final Round & Closing Ceremony - 9 January 2022

• Location: To be informed
• Participants: Top 5 teams, judges, sponsors, lecturers, IIC organizers and other audiences
• Event purpose: Top 5 teams with outstanding performances in the semi-final round will enter the final round to present their findings to the panel of judges. Each team will have 15 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for the Q&A session with our judges. On the same day, the winner of IIC 2021 would be announced after the break.
