RMIT Christmas Giving Tree

RMIT Christmas Giving Tree

Saigon South campus: Building 2, ground floor

Hanoi campus: Tower B Lobby

Christmas is a time for giving through kindness, a season to make others smile.

Our Christmas Giving Tree reaches out to kindergarten children living in a rural province of Vietnam, to help spread the gift of giving.

How it works

This December, a Christmas Giving Tree will stand on SGS and HN campuses to collect donations from staff and students for children in the Tan Hiep Kindergarten, Tan Hiep ward, Tra Cu district, Tra Vinh province. Located in a rural area, the kindergarten is nurturing 235 children in which most of them are Khmer - an ethnic minority.

Your donation will be gifted to the children in January 2020 (before the Lunar New Year).

No matter how big or small your donation is, you are bringing a smile to a child’s face.

How you can help

From now until 31 December 2020, you can choose to contribute to the RMIT Christmas Giving Tree project in two ways:

Donate in cash

You can visit the campus cashiers and give money.

  • Hanoi campus: Tower A, Level 1, next to Saint Honoré cafe
  • Da Nang campus
  • SGS campus: Building 2, ground floor, in front of reception

Date and time: Between 2 - 18 December, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.

Your money donation will help to provide essential bed sheets and playground equipment for kindergarten children. The number of items will be determined based on the actual donations collected.

  • Bedding items: bed nets, mattresses, blankets, pillows, fans
  • Playground equipment: children's slides, swings, seesaws,an animal swing, a carousel, ball pits

Donate in-kind gifts

You can also offer a purchased gift to children aged from 18 months to 6 years old. The present should be wrapped and placed in the huge gift box next to the Christmas Giving Tree. Please provide 1-2 sentences of what's inside and who you would like to give it to - so that it can be delivered it to the right child.

For example:

  • Colouring-in books for children aged 4-6 years old
  • Socks for a 4 month old girl
  • A basketball for children of all ages

When you donate, your name will be recorded and your kindness recognised through a Chrismas tag hung on the tree. However, you can also choose to donate anonymously.
