This program also provides important information such as the conditions of employment and relevant University policies and procedures.
Discover RMIT Vietnam’ is a staff induction program for new staff designed to provide a greater understanding of RMIT Vietnam and the support and services available. This program also provides important information such as the conditions of employment and relevant University policies and procedures.
The program for new staff is as follows.
First day
Meet your manager and colleagues Take a tour of the campus: meet colleagues find all the essentials such as drinking water; tea and coffee facilities; bathrooms; printers; photocopiers; fax find your emergency exit and how to access first aid assistance in case of emergency Set up your workstation and ensure you have stationery; access to your email account and shared drives Set up your phone with voicemail and ensure you know how to pick up other calls; forward calls; and retrieve your messages Visit People Services to: submit your acceptance of Offer of Employment (if you haven’t already done so) submit your completed bank details registration for salary transfer submit your staff information form submit your form confirming you have read and understand the HR Policies (insert link) get any further information you need (eg. Visa and work permit requirements for foreign staff) Collect your office key and ID card from Property Services Collect a motorcycle helmet and diary from Communications (the unit which manages University merchandise)
First week
Your manager will support you with a local induction to complement the University-wide induction, details of which are included in the Supporting New Staff for Success Guidelines provided to you during induction week.
Within your first week it is important to discuss the following aspects of your employment with your manager.
your position description, role and responsibilities of the position how your role fits into the goals of the team expectations for your performance in the role, including any relevant performance standards and/or measures. reporting relationships, the structure of the group and department and how it fits into the wider university community. Your probation and how your progress will be reviewed throughout probation.
Academic Staff
All academic staff participate in a structured induction program that includes:
a broad introduction to RMIT Vietnam an introduction to working and living in Vietnam assistance in finding accommodation and with work permit requirements intensive preparation for teaching at RMIT Vietnam including working with Course Coordinators; lesson planning; and teaching practice with observation and feedback.
This structured program continues through the first semester with ongoing workshops regarding teaching and learning and further in-class observation and feedback for the purposes of development
English Teaching Staff
All English teaching staff participate in a structured induction program that includes:
a broad introduction to RMIT Vietnam an introduction to working and living in Vietnam assistance in finding accommodation and with work permit requirements introduction to the English program curriculum and materials.
