Concurrent English program (CEP) – Diploma of Commerce, Diploma of Design
The Concurrent English Program provides the language and study skills training for students enrolled in Higher Education Diploma programs at RMIT. Throughout there is an emphasis on developing skills in critical and analytical thinking, tutorial participation, independent learning, writing, listening to lectures and taking notes, text analysis, research procedures, oral presentations, expressing opinions, and active participation in academic environments.
The courses are delivered over four semesters (15 months). In Semester 1, three courses set in academic contexts, help develop students ability in the skill areas of Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Research and Study Skills. In Semester 2 and 3 of the Diploma program there are two Concurrent English Courses and in Semester 4, just one English Course. Successful completion of the Diploma program allows students to continue their studies in a Bachelor program.
