Project Overview

RMIT Vietnam is developing a sports and leisure complex and student accommodation on its Saigon South Campus at thPlaza between the Sports and Leisure Centre (left) and Residential Centree cost of US $ 15 million. The Stage 2 development will provide facilities for students to enjoy a rounded university experience combining education, sports, leisure and social interaction. The buildings are scheduled for opening in March 2010.

When completed the Sports and Leisure Centre will include: a sports field (used for football [soccer], rugby union, Australian Rules Football, cricket, softball, baseball, and Ultimate Frisbee) tennis courts, an indoor centre featuring a multi-sport court for basketball, badminton, volleyball and table tennis, a gymnasium, meeting rooms, and multipurpose rooms for aerobics, dancing yoga, and martial arts instruction, a café, a health clinic indoor seating for 1500 spectators, and grandstand seating for 800 overlooking the sports field. A 25-metre short course swimming pool will be constructed in 2010.

The Residential Centre will provide international standard accommodation for up to 240 residents in a mix of single, twin share rooms, three and five bedroom apartments.

The facility will utilise energy and water saving features and finishes in keeping with the environmental management principles adopted by RMIT Vietnam. Cable television and high speed internet connections will be available. A café and retail facilities are included in the complex.
