    Teaching methods and assessment

RMIT has a specially designed Business Information Systems Lab where students can learn how to build their own networks using virtual computing technology. This enables them to access the internet without going through the Universitys network, giving them more practical administrator experience. Other systems development courses are also taught in this high-specification lab with industry standard hardware and software.

BIS assessments are very practical and students will be graded based on the quality and functionality of the systems they build. This means that when students are employed for their internships they have the skills, experience and knowledge to make an immediate impact.

    .

In all courses whether it is core business or BIS courses, the emphasis is on communication. This is what sets RMIT graduates apart from the competition. Students will be able to analyse and solve a problem, but also be able to communicate the solution effectively to IT and business professionals.

"Personally, I think our BIS program is really interesting. It provides adequately insights of both business and information systems. People who want to build a business will be more successful with knowledge about information technology, and people who work in IT field will work more effectively thanks to business insights and communication skills. In short, BIS gives us more options and opportunities. "
