Mr Dowler works with staff members across the Hanoi City campus to foster the development of RMIT Vietnam in Hanoi, providing day-to-day monitoring of RMIT Vietnam operations and services there.
He also represents RMIT Vietnam with the Vietnamese government and city authorities in Hanoi and liaises with relevant RMIT Vietnam officers to respond government requests.
At the Hanoi City campus Mr Dowler works with senior academic leaders and professional staff to develop and maintain a positive and productive culture that enhances the student experience and the quality of programs and services, fostering a collaborative working environment for teaching and professional staff.
Mr Dowler is experienced in liaising with government, public sector agencies and industry, having held high profile roles in Australia involving collaboration with public safety and emergency services. Previously he was CEO of Australian helicopter rescue service CQ Rescue for 12 years, as well as a member of an aviation resource team participating in more than 400 retrieval/rescue operations. For this work he was recognised in the 2015 Australia Day Honours List with a medal in the Order of Australia.
Before taking this position, Mr Dowler was Head of the RMIT Department of Management within the Centre for Commerce and Management, having lectured in the entrepreneurial stream at the Saigon South Campus.
Mr Dowler is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors program and is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants.
