More than 100 students had a chance to discover their talents and learn how to market them appropriately in a 'Marketing Talent' workshop held at RMIT International University Vietnam today.
This workshop is the first in a series of events being organised in the Career Week 2010 at RMIT Vietnam, Saigon South campus from 6-9 December.
The week-long event gives students the opportunity to attend forums where expert panels discuss industry trends, career pathways and the current job market. In addition, students can attend workshops organised to develop skills and knowledge on how to succeed in the job market.
Aside from workshops and panel discussions, there will be a Career Fair on Thursday 9 December with the participation of over 45 leading employers seeking interns and graduates.
Employers will share information on job opportunities with students and accept applications from interested candidates.
RMIT Vietnam has a strong emphasis on producing work-ready graduates equipped with the core skills and capabilities of practice for their chosen career. As such, the university provides all undergraduates the opportunity to complete an internship. The internship allows students to gain practical experience and build a professional network which helps them in choosing a suitable career and gives them some real work experience before they enter the job market. To date, around 2,600 RMIT Vietnam students have been placed with more than 250 companies in Vietnam and overseas. Approximately 80% of students are offered employment prior to graduation with their internship company.
RMIT Vietnam President, Professor Merilyn Liddell said today, "Our University enjoys strong relationships within many industries, with successful organisations both large and small who appreciate the international perspective and skill set of our graduates. These industry relationships bolster both the success of RMIT Vietnam and the companies themselves, through the opportunities provided to students and graduates.
"The success of our graduates is a source of great pride for RMIT Vietnam. Many alumni are now in senior positions in local and multinational companies." stated President Liddell.
Corporate sponsors for the event include:
ACCA Vietnam, Akzo Nobel, ANZ Bank, AstraZeneca, Ernst & Young, Grant Thornton, KPMG, Nielsen Vietnam, Procter & Gamble Vietnam, TRG International and Unilever Vietnam.
