There are a range of activities and services available to assist you with your career planning, career decision making, and getting an appropriate job at the end of your degree. They include:
The Career Centre offers a course in resume writing and job interview skills for students who are about to graduate or do an internship. Our Career Consultants will also help you with job application preparation by providing feedback and advice.
We all need to plan and make decisions to help us progress in our careers. The Career Counsellors are highly trained experts who can sit down with you and help you work through any of the issues associated with careers. We will help you understand yourself, understand opportunities open to you, and understand influences around you so that you can make decisions from choosing appropriate programs to choosing suitable careers. We also guide you on how to go about setting career goals and achieving them.
The Career Centre provides a wide array of career information in a variety of formats for you. They include a wide range of leaflets from the Career Centre or provided by industry, online channels (the Intranet, the Career Centre facebook, the Career Toolkit). We also provide our students with the Career Development Guidebook, developed by our expert staff, to help you through all the major careers related issues and steps it takes to become work-ready at the end of your study.
In addition, we present you with a general picture of where our recent graduates go after they finished their study at RMIT University Vietnam through the outcomes of the Vietnam Graduate Survey to give you better understanding of your careers options.
You will be able to participate in a number of career programs and events which assist you with career exploration. Many opportunities are provided to enable you to experience industry work, connect with industry professionals as well as get ready for the transition to suitable employment.
- Internships Most of the students here have the opportunity to select to undertake an Internship, which is a period that you spend from 12 weeks to one year at an industry site with an industry professional who gives you real work.
- Career Mentoring Program In this program you will be linked with a professional from an industry area of your choice, who can give you answers to lots of career questions and help you with your employment exploration. Take the guesswork out of making decisions about your career - get a Career Mentor.
- Career Week Each year around July, we set aside a particular week where we all focus on helping you with your careers. A whole host of activities are organised for you to participate in. These include workshops, information sessions and Career Expo.
- Networking Event Throughout the year we also host a number of events in the evenings where you will get a chance to meet with professionals from industry and our alumni for career advice and employment opportunities.
