The Australian Vietnam Veterans Reconstruction Group (AVVRG), Victoria Health Education Team, worked with around 20 RMIT Vietnam students who became the translators for their visit to Vietnam from 25 January to 5 February 2010.
AVVRG is a volunteer association of nurses and health care professionals who come to Ho Chi Minh City for two weeks each year to provide education to health professionals in several hospitals.
This year, the new RMIT Vietnam recruits for AVVRG were students from Level 7 of the English Program.
A student who joined the program shared her experience: “I had many wonderful experiences in two weeks with AVVRG staff. All nurses and doctors are very nice and, simply amazing. Due to their help, there will be a good chance for the improvement of Ho Chi Minh City’s nursing system. I am willing to take part in this program next year and I will be very happy to do something for the community.”
