The intensive elective Cross Cultural Communication (CCC) is a practical, activity driven course that aims for optimal Cross Cultural interaction within and
outside class hours. It offers both Australian and Vietnamese students a unique opportunity to take a class together with their international Work Integrated Learning Project counterparts.
The added value of running the course simultaneously with the WIL projects is that it gives students a chance to directly reflect on their own professional practice in an international and multicultural context.
Becoming aware and develop understanding about both ‘self’ and ‘the other’ therefore is a core theme that forms the foundation of the course
CCC runs currently in a 30 hour format spread out over multiple days; including full day, half day and field trip sessions.
What students liked about the course:
"I learnt about cross culture communication in a group of mixed culture. It is easier to understand the theory when we discuss with Australian students. We can share experiences."
"I have a chance to share my own culture as well as learn more about the differences and opinions of friends from other cultures."
"Content and examples were interesting and relevant."
"Balance between theory and practice. Interesting, well laid out content. Having a break from the project. Being able to apply our learning to the project life, etc."
